The bamboo matcha whisk (called a chasen in Japanese) is handmade by specialized artisans from a single piece of bamboo, which is meticulously cut into 100 bristles.
It is not possible to make these bamboo whisks using a machine, so they are all unique. Our bamboo matcha whisks are designed to create a perfectly creamy and foamy matcha.
The bamboo spoon (called a chashaku in Japanese) is traditionally used to measure out a small quantity of matcha to prepare a tea.
This spoon is sculpted from a piece of bamboo and then passed through hot steam to be hand bent. It's a process that requires a lot of patience and dexterity to keep the bamboo from breaking.

A delicate, intensely jade green powder A rich and mellow mouthfeel with a delicious flavor. A taste with a rich and velvety mouthfeel, herbal and vegetal initially, subtly sharp, with a hint of tannin followed by a sweet aftertaste. Lots of umami. It is not bitter, like matchas of inferior quality.
When whisked, this matcha produces a buttery mousse. Ideal for daily consumption and for smoothies.
Matcha is prepared
in a bowl using bamboo utensils.
Use the spoon to measure your matcha into the bowl (1 to 2 spoonfuls) then add cold water and whisk until you have a fine and buttery mousse. Then add hot water (caution: not boiling water).
